After the contract sagas of both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez last season, Arsenal had to avoid going through another season with the impending free transfer of one of their best players.

The Gunners are just starting to get a run of form together but according to the Mirror, long-term midfielder, Aaron Ramsey will leave the club as contract talks between the two clubs have come to a halt.

Moreover, Arsenal rejected an apparent £50 million bid for the midfielder last summer and they will allow him to leave on a free transfer next summer.

The Breakdown

A player that divides opinion at Arsenal, Ramsey was one of the few players to actually play well last season as the Gunners endured one of their worst years in recent memory. Within Arsene Wenger's last season at the club, Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions League and also suffered a gutting loss in the semi-final of the Europa League.

Despite his reasonable performances last season the Welshman has been incredibly inconsistent during his time at the club. Aside from his spectacular season where he scored 10 goals and grabbed nine assists, Ramsey hasn't shown that he is the player that should be getting anywhere close to Mesut Ozil's salary.

While the Welshman doesn't hold the same stature within the squad as Ozil, to have another reasonably important player leave the club during a season where the Gunners are trying to turn the corner shows that the same old problems still exist at Arsenal.
