Following their loss to Preston and recent draw to Derby, Nottingham Forest sit one point off Middlesbrough in sixth.
Under Aitor Karanka, Forest have turned into one of the most balanced teams in the league and currently have only conceded 22 goals in the league while also scoring 32 goals in the Championship thanks to the scintillating form of star forward Lewis Grabban. Grabban has scored 14 goals in the league this season – the top scorer in the league.
The forward has been helped by Forest’s other star player, Joe Lolley. Lolley has scored six goals while also creating a further six and due to that form, Karanka has warned the attacker to concentrate on continuing his improvement rather than concerning himself with recent transfer speculation or any contract talks.
Lolley came close to breaking the side’s recent deadlock against Derby twice and was stopped only by a superb save from Scott Carson. Following the game, it seems as though Karanka has moved to talk down Lolley’s worth to a side based on his first-half performance.
While it may seem a wise move by the Spaniard, the mere fact that he feels the need to dampen any transfer speculation should worry Forest fans. It’s quite clear that Lolley is one of the best in the league. If he continues his current form, there’s no doubt that Premier League clubs will be looking to sign him in the summer.
Considering how Karanka’s time at Middlesbrough ended, fans should be worried that there could be problems up ahead between him and Lolley.
Thoughts Forest fans?
