Newcastle United fans have gathered in the Transfer Tavern to see who the club will sign this summer ahead of next season's campaign.

If Newcastle make the right signings this summer, next season could well be one to cautiously optimistic for the Toon. The Magpies finished 10th last season and their main aim this year will be to buy a striker. Watford's Troy Deeney and Bournemouth's Joshua King have both been linked with a move up North as Rafa Benitez targets a forward to bolster his attacking options.

One attacker who might just be the better option ahead of both those players is Arsenal's Lucas Perez. The forward is valued at £6.75 million by TransferMarkt and could well be tempted by a move away from Arsenal. The Spaniard joined Arsenal for £17.1 million in 2016 but has since never been unable to stamp his mark on the first-team.

Last year Perez spent the season on loan with Deportivo La Coruna after falling out of favour with Arsene Wenger. The forward managed to play 35 games in the league last season, scoring eight goals and six assists.

Although new boss Unai Emery may well have a place for Perez in his team, a bid of £10-15 million may be enough to tempt Arsenal into taking the deal. In return, Newcastle would be getting a talented striker, who has proven at times in the Premier League that he is a quality striker.

Newcastle need a striker who could guarantee them 20 goals a year and if given a chance, Perez could be the man to do just that for Benitez.
