Following the end of the international break, Marcelo Bielsa’s side play Blackburn this weekend and Bielsa has some decisions to make on who to play this weekend.
Coming off a strong start to the season, Leeds have had a slight dip in form and have only won one of their last four games in the Championship and have dropped to third in the table.
Bielsa has been without the likes Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez, Gaetano Berardi and Barry Douglas in recent weeks. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, despite the possible return of Roofe and Berardi, Leeds will be without key man, Barry Douglas.
With Roofe and Hernandez possibly returning to the side this weekend, it’s a huge boost for Leeds. The loss of Douglas, however, could prove costly for Leeds as the full-back has been one of the club’s best players this season.
Jack Roberts and Tyler Roberts have done well to deputise for the two attackers but Bielsa doesn’t really have an adequate replacement for the defender. Along with Patrick Bamford, Douglas was the only permanent transfer to join the club and has so far been outstanding.
The 29-year-old has fitted in seamlessly to Bielsa’s side and his attacking threat down the left flank has been a huge part of Leeds’ success. At the back too, Douglas has been solid and without him Bielsa will have to call on Stuart Dallas to fill the position.
It’s a huge loss for Leeds, as without him, Leeds lose one of the best players in the Championship this season.
