Leeds made a terrific start to the season as under Marcelo Bielsa, United made a superb start and for the first few weeks, they blew away their opponents with Bielsa's brand of attacking football.
Since losing to Birmingham City, however, Leeds have found it hard to find form and since that loss, Leeds have only won two of their subsequent six games in the league. A huge factor in United's drop in form was due to a host of injuries at the club. Bielsa had to deal with losing Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi.
In recent weeks, he also lost star defender Barry Douglas. However, in what will come as a relief considering the club's lack of fullbacks, Douglas managed to get through his run out with the under-23s unscathed and could return for the club.
The Breakdown
Douglas joined the club over the summer in what came as a huge surprise considering how essential he had been with Wolves during their promotion campaign. The 29-year-old immediately filled a void at Leeds and so far he's been a key player in Leed's rise to the top of the table.
The former Wolves man has already grabbed three assists in the league and in tandem with Allioski, he's formed a dynamic left side.
In his absence, Bielsa has struggled to replicate his impact and has opted to play Stuart Dallas. Despite playing in the under-23s match, this weekend's game may be too early for Douglas to start but having him back in contention is great news for Leeds.
