Rangers pulled off a superb 2-1 over Hearts today to send Steven Gerrard's side top of the table.

The Gers have now gone seven games unbeaten and look like a completely transformed side under Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool legend not only guided Rangers through a tough away European qualifying campaign but also has restored the club back to being title contenders with Celtic.

It was a huge game this afternoon as Rangers had to beat a Hearts side that is also going through its own rebuild under Craig Levein.

Rangers, however, dominated the match and came away rightful winners thanks to goals from Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos. The 22-year-old Ecuadorian has been outstanding for Gerrard this year and following the game, the striker was praised by BT pundit and former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton and rightly so.

The Breakdown

Morelos has been one of Rangers' best players this season and has scored eight goals in the league, while also recording six assists.

Although he was offside, today's goal makes it seven in a row for the Rangers forward and at the moment, he's easily the form player in the league. He's exceptionally quick and is a very composed finished when he gets in on goal.

Despite only joining last year, Rangers signed the striker to a new long-term deal in September as they will no doubt have a fight on their hands to keep him. It may seem ridiculous to say but Rangers might have to give him another deal in the summer to keep him at the club.
