Jack Wilshere suffers new injury setback at West Ham

West Ham picked another win at the weekend to make it four wins in their last four games and put them within touching distance of Manchester United in sixth.

Over the summer, West Ham were incredibly active in the transfer market and broke their transfer record twice in Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson. They also signed Jack Wilshere on a free transfer.

The midfielder left Arsenal after 17 years at the club and countless injury problems. He managed to play 20 games for Arsenal last season while also registering 13 games in the Europa League for the north London side.

This season, however, the former Arsenal midfielder has struggled with injuries once again and as of yet, he has only played five times for the club in the league.

Over the last few weeks he has struggled with an ankle injury and according to the Mirror, the midfielder will miss the festive period and may also need to have yet another operation on his troublesome ankle.

The Breakdown

Over the last few weeks, Pellegrini has used a 4-4-2 system which has seen Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass hit top form. He has deployed that formation due to the lack of numbers in midfielder but also with Marko Arnautovic being out with injury.

Although Mark Noble is a fan favourite and a club legend, West Ham need some more numbers in midfield. Manuel Lazini is still out with an injury while Carlos Sanchez isn’t expected back until next year. That leaves the Hammers with Pedro Obiang with only other viable option and therefore, West Man have to reinvest in January.
