Liverpool continued their unbeaten run in the league as they dispatched Bournemouth 4-0 in what was a solid performance from Jurgen Klopp's side.

After weeks of playing well but not fantastically, Liverpool looked much improved going forward, even with Sadio Mane starting from the bench. Roberto Firmino performed well despite not scoring but the star of the show was Mohamed Salah, who scored a hat-trick.

The Egyptian hasn't quite replicated his form from last year but against Bournemouth, he was somewhere close to his best.

Impressively for Liverpool, they kept yet another clean sheet to maintain their record as the best defence in the league having only conceded six times. Even without Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool still looked incredibly solid at the back.

After the game, Klopp praised Matip for his solid performance. The German defender was superb in the absence of Gomez and was rightfully praised by Klopp after the game.

The Breakdown

Losing Gomez to injury was a huge loss to Liverpool. The former Charlton man has been brilliant this season and combined with Virgil van Dijk, he's formed an incredibly solid defensive partnership. Moreover, losing him just before we head into the festive period looked as though it could be a huge loss but today, Matip proved that he could well do a job for Liverpool over the next few weeks.

The German may not be better than Gomez in any area but he still a solid backup to have in the team and could be invaluable over the next few weeks.
