Marcelo Bielsa has long been widely admired by some of the best coaches in the world, including Mauricio Pochettino, Pep Guardiola and Roberto Martinez to name a few.
The Argentine, however, has struggled to match the success he had with Chile and Atheltic Bilbao during his brief stints with Marseille, Lille and Lazio.
His arrival at Elland Road was met with great excitement but also a fear that like his last few jobs, things could go wrong very quickly.
Besides, Leeds have become accustomed to falling short of promotion in recent years and the supporters have adjusted their expectations accordingly.
However, the manner in which Leeds have started the season suggests that the players are buying into an exciting philosophy and they are clearly reaping the rewards of his leadership so far.
In an interview for the Daily Telegraph, rejuvenated midfielder, Mateusz Klich has admitted that at first, he wasn’t sure if Bielsa’s methods would work but, after their first few games, it seems as though the new system is working.
With the exception of new recruit Barry Douglas, Bielsa has worked with pretty much the same squad that was at the club last season. So far, it seems as though Bielsa brand of high-energy style of football is improving the players massively with the likes of Klich, Kemar Roofe and Samu Saiz all playing so,e of the best football of their respective careers.
After years of managerial upheaval, if Leeds can keep Bielsa happy and if his style of football continues to be fresh and productive, it only shows that the club made a great decision in bringing him to the Championship.
