SDNA have recently reported that Olympiacos have confirmed the release of Emmanuel Emenike from the club, following the expiry of his contract.

Emenike has had a fairly indifferent period with the Greek outfit, netting 4 times across 10 appearances in all competitions last term.

Now, as a free agent, the journeyman striker shall be once again seeking pastures new. A career that has already taken in Greece, Turkey, England, Russia and the UAE now looks set to open a new chapter.

Aside from a fairly disastrous spell with West Ham during the 2015/16 season, wherever he has gone, Emenike has proven himself to be a pretty reliable goalscorer. Perhaps now is the time for another English club to offer the Nigeria international the opportunity to make amends for his previous poor showing in this country.

The Breakdown

Whilst a return to the Premier League is unlikely, Emenike could still make an impact at Championship level.

Leeds United are certainly in need of at least one striker this summer. In fact, the Yorkshire club, and their new boss Marcelo Bielsa, will almost certainly wish to bring in at least two new forward options during this transfer window.

Emenike may not be a suitable candidate for leading the line at Elland Road week in week out, but he would be an excellent and reliable squad rotation option. His experience and efficiency in front of goal could contribute a lot to the Leeds cause over the course of a Championship season.

As a free agent, Emmanuel Emenike represents a cost effective way for Leeds to introduce some extra quality and depth to their attacking options.
