After the Sam Allardyce and David Moyes eras, West Ham now have a top quality manager that could take the club back towards the top eight and possibly even bring some silverware to east London.

Over the summer, Pellegrini brought in a host of new recruits to improve on the club's terrible season last year. Among those new faces to join the club, was Brazilian winger, Felipe Anderson who became the club's record signing and has so far been outstanding for the Hammers.

In tandem with Marko Arnautovic, Anderson formed a duo that can threaten any side and as result, the Hammers managed to draw with Chelsea while also beating Everton and Man U.

Tonight, West Ham face Tottenham in the EFL Cup and it's a game where Pellegrini must be careful with his squad selection. According to West Ham legend, Tony Gale (speaking on talkSPORT), Pellegrini should play a strong team to beat Spurs tonight. Although West Ham could beat Spurs tonight, Pellegrini shouldn't play a full-strength side.

The Breakdown

From West Ham's perspective, the EFL Cup does present a very possible avenue of success but after such a tough start to the season, Pellegrini would be wise to rest the likes of Anderson and Arnautovic.

The Hammers currently sit 13th in the table with eight points and can ill afford to lose too many games or risk being dragged into a relegation fight. At this point in time, Pellegrini must rest his best players tonight.
