Newcastle must revisit move for Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin

It’s been a fairly poor start to the season for Newcastle as the club have slumped to 19th in the table and remain one of only four sides not to have registered a win in the league and have only managed one point so far this season.

In fairness, after such a poor transfer window where Mike Ashley failed miserably in trying to improve the squad, the Magpies were never going to start the season well.

While Ashley brought in Yoshinori Muto, Kenedy and Salomon Rondon to try and bolster the forward line, Newcastle have so far struggled. The Brazilian has been poor so far this year and Newcastle will need to dip into the transfer market in January to bring in some quality on the wing.

According to French news outlet, Nice-Matin, the club tried to sign Nice winger, Allan Saint-Maximin over the summer, who’s been compared to Eden Hazard and Neymar. While it would be a very un-Mike Ashley move, the club should attempt to sign the 21-year-old in January.

The Breakdown

Rated at £18 million, Saint-Maximin is an incredibly talented player but as of yet has not showcased that talent regularly enough. The rapid winger has so far scored two goals in five games this season for Nice in the league and seems set to be about one of his best seasons since making his breakthrough at 17 at Saint-Etienne.

While he may be slightly unproven, the talent is there and Newcastle could have a potential star on their hands.
