Newcastle lost 3-0 to West Ham yesterday which put an end to their solid run of form which had seen them win three games in a row, including victories over Bournemouth and Watford.

Newcastle have really struggled for goals this season as Rafa Benitez has looked to institute a pragmatic style of football rather than an expensive and attractive one.

In order to replace the now Fulham striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Benitez signed West Brom forward Salomon Rondon on loan for the season with an included obligation to buy clause.

Although he had his best game for the club against Bournemouth a couple of weeks ago, the on-loan forward isn't known for his goalscoring ability.

In the youth academy, Newcastle have a striker who has scored 17 goals this season in Elias Sorensen but according to the Chronicle, the young Dane has been attracting interest from St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Hartlepool.

The Breakdown

The 19-year-old is now only three goals away from reaching 20 this season and has been one of the stars of the youth academy.

He didn't put in a great performance against Leeds in the Premier League Cup recently but his strike was still enough to win the game.

He may not be able to take Rondon's place in the first-team straight away but with such a superb talent at the club, Benitez can ill afford to allow him to leave, especially as Newcastle struggle for goals. He simply must give him a chance in the first-team or Newcastle could lose one of the best players to come through the academy in years.
