Leeds United got a crucial win against Ipswich Town on Wednesday night and returned to the to the top of the Championship table, albeit level on points with Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.
Under Bielsa, Leeds have played some great attacking football and for most of the season have smothered the opposition but over the last few weeks, Leeds have struggled to replicate their early season form due to a host of injuries.
Marcelo Bielsa lost Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi in recent weeks, and due to those players being out, Leeds have lost against Birmingham City and Blackburn while also drawing to Sheffield Wednesday and Brentford.
Leeds need to dip into the January transfer market, and with that in mind Goal has linked Bielsa with a reunion with Ibai Gomez whom he coached during his time at Athletic Bilbao.
According to the report, Leeds had tried to bring Gomez in over the summer and with his contract running out at the end of the season, Leeds are looking to bring him in in the new year.
The 28-year-old has been a solid performer for the La Liga side and last year he scored seven goals in 34 games while also grabbing six assists. During his time at Bilabo, Gomez played a key part in their run to the Europa League Final in 2012.
His superb form has seen him nominated for the La Liga’s September ‘Player of the Month’ and he could be an incredible asset in Leeds promotion push.
