It was a fairly tough start for West Ham this season as Pellegrini's side was handed a brutal start to the season as they had to face Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea in their first six games in the league.

After that tough start it looked as though Pellegrini had found his best side as he shifted to a 4-3-3 and the results started to pick up as West Ham beat Man U and held Chelsea to a draw.

Last weekend the Hammers beat Burnley 4-2 in what was one of their best performances going forward with Felipe Anderson in particular, having his best game for the club.

Despite strengthening heavily in the summer, West Ham need to reinvest in January and the board need to bring in another midfielder, to supplement the likes of Mark Noble and Declan Rice.

To bolster that midfield, it had been reported that West Ham were considering a loan move for Chelsea midfielder, Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Unfortunately for the Hammers, Maurizio Sarri has slammed the door on allowing the midfielder to leave the club in January.

The Breakdown

After being selected to Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad, it's been a fairly low key season for Loftus-Cheeks. He did recently score his first hat-trick for the club in their Europa League game against Bate Borisov but he still hasn't made an appearance in the league for the west London side.

Given West Ham's lack of depth in midfield, Loftus-Cheek would've been an ideal player to join the ranks. Moreover, he would've provided some attacking talent and dynamism to Pellegrini's three-man midfield.
