Arsenal are seemingly just starting to gather some form this season as the Gunners have put together a run of nine wins this season, most recently beating Fulham 5-1 before the international break.
With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the way, the Gunners have been superb, albeit at the back it seems there’s still quite a lot of work to be done. Shkodran Mustafi remains a constant liability at the back and with him in the side, there’s always a worry that Arsenal will concede.
Over the summer, the Gunners signed experienced Borussia Dortmund defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and so far this year, the Greece international has been incredibly impressive at the back.
In what will come as worrying news for the Arsenal fans, while playing for Greece on Monday, Sokratis was forced off with an injury and was replaced by Georgios Tzavellas.
While it’s unsure how severe his injury is, if Arsenal do lose the defender, it would be a huge blow. Rob Holding has done well in his place but in truth, Arsenal need to find a way of keeping Mustafi out of the side.
Following the conclusion of the international break, Arsenal will have to play five matches in less than two weeks and Unai Emery is going to need everyone available if the Gunners are to have a chance of continuing their run of good form.
With a tough game against Leicester City coming hope, Emery will be hoping that the former Dortmund man is available.
