After back to back relegations, Sunderland have had a brilliant season and one where the fans can finally get back behind their club.
New owner, Stewart Donald has done a brilliant job in not only bringing in Jack Ross but also recruiting some superb players that have improved the squad massively. Two players that have been starring for the club this season are youth academy graduates Josh Maja and Lynden Gooch.
The 23-year-old attacker has been brilliant this season and has scored five goals to go with eight assists in 19 games for the club this season. Maja too has been in scintillating form this season as he’s scored 12 goals in 19 games this season but could be set to leave the club next month.
The 19-year-old forward has thrived since he’s been given the starting role and according to the Mirror, the club be forced to sell the striker for £1.5 million as they fear he could leave on a free next summer.
The club is yet to sign the star man to a new deal and is well aware of not being held to ransom as they were with Joel Asoro last year, The Swede left the club in the summer for a cut-price fee as he entered the final year of his contract and with Maja now approaching the time where he can agree a move, Sunderland may have to cash in now.
With the striker in such great form, losing him now may well destroy Sunderland’s hopes of winning the title.
