West Ham may need to dip into the transfer market next month in order to restore their push for a top ten finish.

The Hammers have had a stop-start season so far this year. At times they look as though they could finish in the top ten and at others, they look as though they'll have to settle for a bottom half finish.

Over the summer, the Hammers spent well as they broke their transfer record twice on Issa Diop and Felipe Anderson. Both players have been superb so far this season with the Brazilian quickly establishing himself as one of the best players outside the top six.

West Ham, however, don't have the deepest squad and as it stands, Manuel Pellegrini would be wise to make some moves in the transfer market in January.

According to Italian news outlet, CalcioMercato West Ham and Liverpool are interested in a move for Brighton midfielder, Pascal Gross.

Valued at £9 million, the German midfielder has been a solid player for Brighton since he arrived and scored seven goals while grabbing eight assists for Chris Houghton's side last year.

West Ham would face competition from Liverpool for his signature but it might be a deal that they should push for next month. Pellegrini is without Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere and therefore, he needs a creative player to step in and provide some attacking talent in midfield.

Wilshere has struggled to make much of an impact on the side since his arrival and given his terrible injury record, he just can't be relied on to play too many games.
