West Ham are coming off a four-game winning streak and look like the team many expected them to be following their summer exploits in the transfer window.
With Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena at the back, Declan Rice in midfielder and Felipe Anderson on the wing, Manuel Pellegrini is starting to piece together a side that might be as good as the side that did so well in Slaven Bilic’s first season at the club.
West Ham could still do with some more reinforcements next month and have been linked with a move for free agent, Samir Nasri.
In his latest press conference, Pellegrini admitted that the club will make his decision on the player next week.
The midfielder was a key figure in Pellegrini’s title-winning side at Manchester City and will be eligible to play for the club in the New Year following the end of his 18-month doping ban.
Pellegrini is considering signing the midfielder following injuries to Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko. While Nasri is no doubt a talented player, it would be a big mistake to bring the player into a side that is just starting to put together some form. He won’t cost much but at 31 and considering his character, Pellegrini should steer well away from the midfielder.
