Derby County fans must be disappointed with their side’s recent run of form as they’ve struggled to ensure consistency under Frank Lampard. But, they were let off the hook yesterday as a point against Sheffield Wednesday turned out to be a good result with Bristol City losing.
Although, one worry for the Rams was the fact that they suffered an injury at Pride Park on Saturday.
What’s the news?
Bennett limped off in the first half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.
And, it’s now been revealed (as per Derby Telegraph) that Frank Lampard is hoping the upcoming international break has fallen at the right time for Mason Bennett to recover from a groin injury.
“It is disappointing for Mason because we know he has had a few issues with injuries and muscles,”
“Hopefully with it being the international break after our game against Stoke, then two and a half weeks or so will get taken up by that.”
“We will have to assess him. Hopefully it won’t be too long.”
Many fans are probably still drooling over Mason Bennett’s goal against Wigan Athletic as he managed to grab the equaliser with a stunning flick at Pride Park. Indeed, his pace and energy off the substitutes’ bench often works wonders for the Rams and he will continue to play a big part in their play-off push.
But, the worrying thing is that Lampard still isn’t sure how the long Bennett will be out for as he’s still yet to be assessed, so Derby could be dealt a potentially big blow if it’s worse than expected.
David Nugent can be a handful at times off the bench but he struggles to have much of an impact as he isn’t exactly the quickest.
Derby County fans, what could Bennett’s injury mean for your promotion hopes?
