The Newcastle United side touted to sweep all before them in the Championship have begun life back in the second tier in the least possible way.
Two dismal losses to the hands of Fulham and Huddersfield Town have tempered expectations on Tyneside, though the Toon Army are still favourites in the eyes of many.
And so they should be.
Clearly, it’s going to be some adjustment for Rafa Benitez and his players.
Still, life in that division is long haul and the former Real Madrid manager has time aplenty to right the wrongs shown in the opening stages of the campaign.
Boasting a squad that competitors can only envy, the rocky start has no doubt brought the club back down to earth, though does little to undermine the quality on offer at St. James’ Park.
When it clicks, the Magpies will soar.
