Derby fans in the Tavern are daring to dream as the club look to secure a play-off place to fight for the chance to play in the Premier League next season.
Regardless of whether the Rams are successful in their quest for promotion, they have a huge summer ahead of them as they look to put together a squad capable of either avoiding relegation or challenging for promotion again.
One man that could help them on their way is Liverpool starlet, Marko Grujic.
Once labelled the next Steven Gerrard by our punters, Grujic joined Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade for £5m before leaving on loan to Cardiff City in January.
The Serbian is estimated to be worth £4.3m by Transfermarkt and has become a key player for the Bluebirds since leaving Merseyside. Indeed, the 22-year-old has made 11 appearances in the Championship, scoring one goal, impressing Cardiff fans with his performances; Cardiff have lost just once in the league when Grujic has featured.
Liverpool will add Naby Keita to their midfield in the summer and are continually linked with other midfield targets, leaving Grujic wondering where he fits into the puzzle.
The youngster could be set for another season out on loan given the number of options in the Liverpool engine room, and Derby could be the perfect destination. The Rams should be working hard to make him part of their side next season regardless of what division they find themselves in next year.
Grujic is expected to play a prominent role in the upcoming World Cup for Serbia, and a good string of performances on the world stage could increase the interest in his services.
Derby should move quickly to secure the signature of one of England’s hottest prospects.
