£9m-rated Chelsea man should be major Newcastle United target this summer after Kenedy success

Newcastle fans here at the Tavern are excited for the possibility of improving their squad this summer. The Magpies seemingly, at the moment anyway, will live to fight another day in the Premier League and so new recruitments will help bolster their chances again next campaign.

The current Newcastle squad has been boosted by the arrival of Chelsea loan star Kenedy, who has been tremendous upon arrival to St James’ Park. The Brazilian comes with their world-renowned flair and trickery and has really helped Newcastle steer clear of the relegation zone.

If the success of bringing Chelsea players in on-loan continues, the next player the Magpies should steal from Stamford Bridge is Marco Van Ginkel. Just a few years ago, the Dutchman featured rather a lot for the Blues as he managed 17 Premier League appearances. His time with Chelsea was quickly tarnished though as the 25-year-old picked up an injury to put him out of contention.

Now though, Van Ginkel has reformed himself once again playing in the Eredivisie with PSV. The midfield isn’t shy about getting on the scoresheet either with 12 goals in all competitions already this season, as well as providing a real touch of class when on the ball. Outside of Jonjo Shelvey, the Magpies certainly lack that.

If Newcastle are looking to make improvements to their squad, then bringing an extra body in midfield in would be a good idea and given that Van Ginkel is only valued at £9.00 million on Transfermarkt, Newcastle could find themselves a gem.

Landlords verdict:

Rafa Benitez has again proved this season what a top manager he is and without him, well, the Magpies may not be so safe. If Mike Ashley seriously wants to see his Newcastle side do well, then Benitez should be allowed the funds to bring fresh talent into the squad, with Marco Van Ginkel fitting the specifications perfectly.
