The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been scouring Twitter to see who their club will be signing this summer, but today they’ve only found the news on the Leeds website that Andy Lonergan has left the club by mutual consent.
| Leeds United can announce Andy Lonergan has today left the club by mutual consent

Last season saw Lonergan make just nine appearances for Leeds United, in those games, he shipped 17 goals and registered just a single clean sheet and with all the speculation surrounding The Whites signing a ‘keeper this summer, it was always going to mean the experienced EFL goalkeeper was on his way out. Lonergan will be looking for a new club now and at the age of 34, it’s unlikely that a top Championship club will come calling.
The Elland Road faithful have been eyeing up David Stockdale and Jamal Blackman for a while now and whilst the club has come to an impasse with the negotiations for Stockdale, a loan move for the young Chelsea stopper, Blackman, would go down a treat. Another option is promoting a ‘keeper from the U23s and trusting two youngsters with Bailey Peacock-Farrell being a favoured option by the fans after his strong end to the season.

1 keeper left

Not surprising as we have bpf & the under 23 lad but must have another keeper lined up then as Wieldweld is gone too otherwise we are in debt.

Another one bites the dust

As you can see, the local Whites in the Tavern are pleased to see Lonergan gone and will be hoping his wages can be put towards a new ‘keeper who will have more of an impact than he had last season.
