Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are split with mixed opinions after talkSPORT revealed that Arsene Wenger is confident that Theo Walcott will sign a new deal.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the England international’s future.
With talk strongly linking him with a move to Liverpool in a deal which would see Raheem Sterling go the opposite direction to the Emirates.
Walcott has only managed to start three Premier League games for the Gunners this season and although this is partially down to injury, he has still struggled to secure a regular place in the side.
And with the Arsenal hitting good form without him in the side, this has given people the impression they may offload him for good money and bring someone in who will make an impact.
But despite this mindset in some Arsenal fans, Wenger is still keen on keeping him at the club and is hopeful they can reach an agreement before the end of the season.
Wenger said: “I am confident because I believe Theo has a great future. He is just coming back from a difficult injury and every week he is getting better.
“He is only young and I believe he will have a great goalscoring record in the future because of the quality and intelligence of his game. Therefore I want him to stay with our club.”
