Sheffield Wednesday’s victory over Bolton Wanderers was short lived when they came back crashing down to earth at the weekend.
Jos Luhkuay witnessed his side be thumped by Blackburn Rovers 4-2 on Saturday, sliding the Owls back down to 16th in the Championship.
Next Saturday will see them entertain Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United at Hillsborough, however, one of the club’s key men will be walking a tightrope in that game, as per a report by the Sheffield Star.
Barry Bannan picked up his ninth yellow card of the season in last weekend’s defeat and will know that one more caution will see him pick up a two-game ban.
The Scotland international has been a vital man for Luhukay’s side, however, his disciplinary record has let him down at times.
The fan favourite has already served one suspension and a second one looks likely, as the cut-off point for 10 yellow cards is not until the middle of March.
Bannan is extremely vital to how Sheffield Wednesday play and the tightrope he will be walking will give Luhukay some concerns.
With the festive period starting to kick in, a two-game ban could be a disastrous thing to happen for the Owls at this time of the season.
Unfortunately, given the style of Bannan’s play, it is likely that he will be facing a two-game ban in the future, but Luhukay will be hoping it is not until 2019.
