Barry Douglas will play for Leeds on Sunday against Wigan

Leeds United will be looking to continue their ascent to the top of the Championship table when they meet Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon.

The Whites will have the advantage of going into the game knowing the type of result they need to get, although winning the fixture will be the minimum aim.

And, it appears that Marcelo Bielsa could have been handed a huge boost ahead of the away trip to the DW Stadium.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, via Leeds Live, the Argentine manager responded with a one-worded answer when asked whether Barry Douglas will play.

“Yes,” he simply responded.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back, who joined the Elland Road outfit in the summer, has missed the last couple of games with a hamstring injury.

The Verdict:

Douglas’ return will be a huge boost to Leeds and their chances of getting the three points on Sunday when they meet Wigan.

The left-back is considered to be one of the best in the Championship and it was a surprise to see him leave Wolves in the summer following a superb season for the champions last year.

Bielsa’s side have done fairly well without the defender, however, they will be quick to welcome him back into the fold, especially with Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling both out on the sidelines.
