According to The Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest midfielder Adlène Guedioura is out of tomorrow's match against Birmingham at The City Ground.

This will be a bitter blow to manager Aitor Karanka and all Nottingham fans as the Algerian has been in scintillating form for The Reds so far this season.

The 32-year-old (valued at 900k on Transfermarkt.co.uk) fractured his cheekbone as his side drew 2-2 with Wigan last weekend. Luckily for Karanka, he has plenty of players at his disposal that he can call upon.

However, Karanka need not worry extensively, because this is where Nottingham Forest's busy summer transfer window will pay dividends. The Reds boast possibly the most squad depth in the Championship, and have plenty of players to call upon.

The number one candidate to partner Jack Colback in the defensive midfield position is Ben Watson (valued at 900k on Transfermarkt.co.uk), Watson has already started for The Reds in that position this season, so it wouldn't require any stylistic changes to the team.

Liam Bridcutt is also a contender, but in this circumstance Watson should get the nod. They will possibly lose a slight bit of defensive solidity with the introduction of Watson, but he can certainly hold his own. Both men have an eye to get forward and contribute in attack, which will make the transition between players easier for Karanka.

Forest have made an acceptable start to their season, sitting in 10th, but Karanka will want to push on. While Guedioura is a massive blow to them, they have the capabilities to bounce back and get the win tomorrow.
