Sheffield United have landed one of the hottest prospects in England.

Chris Wilder has added just one permanent signing to his squad this summer - the £4m signing of John Egan from Brentford. The Blades received a boost to their finances after selling promising youngster, David Brooks, to Bournemouth. His impressive performances last year prompted the Cherries to splash £10m to bring him to the Vitality Stadium.

To replace him, United have landed the services of Liverpool wonderkid – Ben Woodburn. Valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old is widely regarded as the hottest prospect on Merseyside. After joining the club as a seven-year-old, Woodburn was fast-tracked to the first team following Jurgen Klopp’s arrival. His impressive performances at youth level saw Klopp give the youngster a chance in the Premier League and he became the club’s third-youngest debutant of all-time.

Just three days later, he became Liverpool’s youngster ever goal scorer by coming off the bench to score against Leeds United. Woodburn was named Liverpool’s Academy Player of the Season in 2017 and was handed the captaincy by Steven Gerrard for the UEFA Youth League.

Now, Woodburn gets the chance to show what is capable of in a highly competitive division. Working with Wilder will do wonders for his development and regular first-team football will help the Welsh international adapt to the physicality of life in England.

Woodburn is extremely quick and has excellent technical ability. With an eye for a pass and devastating finishing, he is well equipped to follow in the footsteps of Harry Wilson and be a huge hit in the Championship.

If can replicate the excellent performances of Brooks, Woodburn will be a fan favourite in no time.
