Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are over the moon with the latest news coming from Elland Road as their new manager was officially unveiled.
Our punters can’t believe what they see as former Argentina and Chile manager, Marcelo Bielsa, was appointed as Paul Heckingbottom’s replacement. The 62-year-old has managed in Spain, where he led Athletic Bilbao to domestic and continental cup finals in his first season, as well as Italy and France. The Argentine is known for his unconventional tactics and using technological tools to aid his training methods.
The former Lille boss is admired by many in the world of football. Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, is a huge admirer and cites Bielsa as his tactical inspiration. He described the new Leeds boss as “the best manager in the world” back in 2012. He would be wise to use his relationship with Guardiola to lure some of Manchester City’s best youngsters to the club.
One player he should target is City prospect – Bersant Celina. Valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, the Kosovan spent last season in the Championship with Ipswich. The former Twente man was extremely impressive, making 35 appearances, scoring seven goals, including a wonder strike against Leeds.
Given the wealth of talent at Guardiola’s disposal, it’s hard to see a route into the first-team for the youngster. Another loan move would be the perfect solution. Primarily an attacking midfielder, Celina would be a great fit under Bielsa at Elland Road at the moment.
The 21-year-old has the quality to unlock defences and win games by himself. He can be the man to fire the Whites back into the Premier League.
