The Sheffield Wednesday fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their club’s retained list as the end of the season approaches. A number of players have been offered new deals, whilst Glenn Loovens, Ross Wallace and Jake Kean will be leaving the club at the end of the season. Loanees Jacob Butterfield and Frederico Venancio will also be moving on as their loan deals expire, with Venancio’s departure hitting the fans hard.
Sheffield Wednesday can announce the club’s retained list ahead of the conclusion of the 2017/18 season…

Sheffield Wednesday are suffering a poor season this time around after they finished fourth last season. The Owls currently occupy 16th in the Championship table, despite making a place in the playoffs for the past two seasons. The club will need to ship some of their deadwood and have a strong summer transfer window if they’re to get back to competing for promotion to the Premier League next season.
Despite the Owls poor season, the fans are disappointed to see a number of their senior’s let go. In particular, Frederico Venancio’s departure has been tough to take for the fans. Venancio has one final game left to play against Norwich this weekend before he returns to Vitoria Setubal following his one-year loan. In the Portuguese centre-back’s time in Sheffield, he’s managed 26 appearances for Wednesday, with 18 of those coming in the league, and has warmed himself to the fans in his short spell in England.

Bit disappointed we aren’t signing Venancio

Just to clarify, we can’t announce that we’ve signed Venancio. He’s under contract at his own club and the window is shut.

Don’t understand why we have announced this before the end of the season. Weird way of doing things. Least they’re communicating haha
