Birmingham defeat hasn’t worried these optimistic Leeds fans - Birmingham

Leeds United suffered their first defeat of the season yesterday when they were bested by a well-oiled Birmingham side. The Whites found themselves 2-0 down inside half an hour as a Che Adams double put Garry Monk’s side in the driving seat and despite Ezgjan Alioski’s late consolation effort they fell to a 2-1 defeat.

Whilst speaking after the game, Liam Cooper gave his verdict on what went wrong and whilst he cast a very dejected figure, he and his teammates will be desperate to put things right when they travel to face a stern Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night. Marcelo Bielsa’s side will need to be much better against Wednesday if they’re to get back to winning ways but the players will be determined to bounce back quickly.

Cooper stated in his verdict that they simply weren’t good enough in the first half and part of that is also down to Birmingham, who were well-drilled and executed the game plan that Monk had obviously set up for them. It was a return to Elland Road for Monk and he’ll be delighted to have marked it with a win, however, Leeds will be keen to ensure that Monk’s win over them was nothing more than just a one-off.
