Our Birmingham City fans here in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait to see their side back in action at the weekend as they look to recover from an opening day Championship loss against Ipswich.
The Blues came into the campaign confident that things were going to go well under Harry Redknapp and so they’ll be hopeful that they can turn things around this weekend against Bristol City.
For sure, outside of the league things are going pretty well with them beating Crawley Town in the League Cup last night and they’ll be looking to take that form into the weekend against the Robins.
Meanwhile, off of the pitch, Harry Redknapp is still aiming to bring in players and – according to Sky Sport Italia – The Birmingham Mail – the Blues have submitted a bid for Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah.
Certainly, the midfielder would be an impressive acquisition to have at the club given the way he motors about the pitch and it’s evident that Redknapp wants to add some energy to the side.
Acquah is a very strong looking player in the middle of the park and could be a real asset for the Blues.
The Championship is a very strong, physical league and having players that can mix it up and drive forwards is a necessity so this deal has the hallmarks of a successful move.
