Blackburn Rovers looking at two ex-Championship bosses for vacant role

Aston VillaBlackburn Rovers supporting punters were jumping for joy during happy hour in the Transfer Tavern yesterday evening when the news broke that their manager Gary Bowyer had been handed his p45 and sacked as the club’s manager.

Amid the usual evening banter in the Tavern, one punter believes that the sacking has come too late and that he should have departed after a relatively poor season last time around.

Nonetheless, attention has turned to who might take over at Ewood Park, and three chaps playing a game of killer pool are drawn to an article in The Mirror that states two very experienced managers are in the running.

Ex-Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has been sounded out for the position following his success in guiding Norwich City to promotion previously in his career, making him a solid appointment.

Whilst, the other name mentioned is Slavisa Jokanovic, the scary looking Serb who guided Watford to the top flight before departing at the end of the season.

One stumbling block for the latter could be the compensation package which Rovers will need to pay his current club Maccabi Tel Aviv and with Rovers currently under a transfer embargo, they could go for Lambert as a cheaper option.

Rovers fans… Who would you like to see next in the hot seat? Who is the better manager out of the two linked in The Mirror? Was Bowyer deservedly sacked?
