Sheffield United went top of the Championship on Saturday with a 1-0 win against Hull City at Bramall Lane.
The Blades took advantage of Leeds United’s lunch-time draw with Brentford and took all three points to leapfrog them into pole position.
Chris Wilder’s side found the winner from the penalty spot when David McGoldrick netted in the 70th minute.
“We’d rather be here than another position. It’s an accumulation of points, and we are delighted to have 25 points from 12 games,” he said.
“I believe they’ve all been fully earned. We’ve had none given to us.
“We’ve won four on the bounce now so we’ve had to do a lot of things right.
“I think, pound for pound, that’s the best win of the season. We’re enjoying our football.”
Sheffield United will have been pleased that they were able to make the most of their game on Saturday, especially given the results of their rivals went in their favour.
The Blades have been playing excellent football all season and deserve to be where they currently are in the Championship ladder.
Wilder’s claim that they had earned their best win of the season can easily be backed up, as Hull had made it difficult against Leeds in their last match, with Marcelo Bielsa claiming it was one of his toughest games as well.
