Ex-Premier League boss joins Nigel Clough in pole position for Nottingham Forest job

Nigel PearsonThe Nottingham Forest fans are gathered at the bar sinking a few pints in The Transfer Tavern this evening, are discussing reports that the club have a couple of candidates at the top of their list for the vacant manager’s position.

The Daily Star is reporting that Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has both Nigel Pearson and Nigel Clough at the top of his managerial wish list following the sacking of Dougie Freedman yesterday.

The hierarchy at Forest decided to relieve manager Dougie Freedman of his duties following a string of poor results, which has seen any hopes of the club making the play-offs extinguished.

Pearson is no stranger to Championship management having led Leicester to the Premier League, and Clough would be seen as an exciting appointment given that his dad Brian was the club’s most successful manager.

The sacking of Freedman sees Forest searching for their tenth manager in five years and with the fans starting to become disillusioned with life under owner Al-Hasawi this appointment could prove to be the most important of his tenure at the football club.

The Nottingham Forest fans in The Tavern are hopeful that the right man will be appointed, and that the club finally get someone in who can bring stability and success given time!
