Birmingham fans have not hidden their elation after hearing the news that midfielder Cheikh N’Doye will return to French club Angers on loan.
The Senegalese midfielder (valued at £2.25m on Transfermarkt.co.uk) joined the Blues at the beginning of last season after a successful spell at Angers, playing 37 times for the Midlands outfit last season.
Many fans were unhappy with his performances, describing him invariably as the worst player to play for Birmingham. However, he also remained a cult hero for the club, particularly for the effort that he put in for the club.
While fans have been critical of his skill and technique, they are most relieved that they have unloaded a player with a large wage bill. There is now confidence that Garry Monk will be able to recruit a player of higher quality in the midfield after a difficult summer.
N’Doye has started once this season for Birmingham, in the 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough, and he leaves the club as they still search for their first win of the season.
Here’s what the fans had to say:
I can't believe Blues are letting Ndoye go. Apart from the rest of our centre mids who else can misplace a 10 yard pass like him. I'm fuming @ GarryMonk you don't know what you're doing

With Ndoye set to leave hopefully it frees up some cash to get some proper championship quality in, two players I would love to see down the blues are Betenelli and Kevin McDonald #BCFC

Cheikh Ndoye was hands down one of, if not, the worst player to don the shirt – but by God did I love him. Au revoir, mon ami. #bcfc

Ndoye, you are in my Top 3 of most useless footballers I've ever seen play for Blues. A cult hero nonetheless. A very very well paid cult hero. Cya.

Getting rid of ndoye is the best business of the transfer window #fact

If you’re a blues fan and you’re gutted Ndoye is leaving I question what you’ve been watching over the past year #BCFC

Thank goodness Ndoye is gone, one of the worst players I've seen put on a Blues shirt, may need another centre midfielder though #bcfc

Cheikh Ndoye leaving the Blues is a sign from the football gods that they at least still care about us

So Ndoye has gone, best thing that could have happened to us tbf, overpaid player who is incredibly overrated, hopefully we can sign a new midfielder now

I've seen semi pro players with more about them than Ndoye…good luck to him
