Fernando Forestieri being investigated further

Fernando Forestieri being investigated further

Things could be about to get a lot worse for Sheffield Wednesday off the pitch as investigations continue to surround a key player.

According to a report by the Sheffield Star, Fernando Forestieri is being investigated by the Football Association for allegedly making racist comments.

The attacker was already hit with a three-match ban for his involvement in a brawl during their pre-season clash with Mansfield Town in July, however, it appears that he could spend further time on the sidelines.

It is understood that the FA are treating it as a separate issue, meaning the Italian-Argentine could be hit with a further ban and a possible fine if found guilty.

Forestieri had admitted the misconduct charge brought against him by the governing body about his involvement in the brawl and will now miss the Owls Championship games against Stoke City, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest.

The Verdict:

Jos Luhukay and Sheffield Wednesday will be disappointed with the outcome and will not be happy that Forestieri will now have to miss three huge matches.

The club would likely have liked things to have been sorted out before the start of the league campaign and would not be happy to have been punished once the season is already underway.

However, things could be about to get worse for the 28-year-old, as he could miss an even more significant amount of time, should he be found guilty of making comments of a racist nature.
