According to The Nottingham Post, midfielder Adlene Guedioura has said that Forest can send out a ‘statement’ if they win tomorrow evening against Leeds.
The Reds travel to Elland Road to face Marcelo Bielsa’s league leaders Leeds with their confidence high. They have only lost two games all season, and striker Lewis Grabban now has eight goals in his last eight appearances.
Aitor Karanka’s men sit in seventh place in the league, only four points behind Leeds, and could well find themselves in the top six with a victory tomorrow evening. That will obviously be a very tough challenge, but they have already proven this season that they can perform against the league’s best when they beat Middlesbrough at The Riverside.
While there is a lot of truth in what Guedioura has said as to Forest’s top six credentials, it says a lot more about the team. If The Reds were able to get the victory tomorrow it would show the team’s ability to win big games. That will be fundamental when it comes to the latter stages of the season, particularly the play-offs.
Forest already have a massive scalp in beating Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough, if they add Leeds to that mix, suddenly teams will see Karanka’s men as the team to fear in big games. Unfortunately, it has been the consistency of performances that has let Forest down so far this season; while they have only lost two games, they have drawn seven, and that has prevented them from being at the very top of the table.
