Wolves fans in the Transfer Tavern are enjoying the remainder of the season after watching their side be crowned champions and earned promotion back to the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have run away with the Championship title following a major summer overhaul which saw a number of high-profile players arrive at Molineux. Former Porto captain, Ruben Neves and Atletico Madrid winger Diego Joto were crucial to their successful title bid.
Reports have suggested that Wolves will aim to make Stoke City goalkeeper, Jack Butland, their number one priority when the window reopens in the summer. The former Birmingham shot-stopper would cost the newly promoted side big money and certainly would prove a statement of intent should he move to the Black Country. However, his performances this season haven’t warranted such a price tag.
Instead, Wolves should sign PSG goalkeeper – Kevin Trapp. The French club have been linked with a move for Gianluigi Donnarumma which could mean Trapp finds himself surplus to requirements. Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, he could be available for a reasonable price after failing to impress over in the French capital.
He has played just three times in Ligue 1 this campaign, but his stats from last campaign suggest he is still a quality shot-stopper. The German collected 15 clean sheets in just 24 games in the league, averaging 1.79 saves per game according to Squawka. So, as you can see, would be a wonderful addition for the Championship-winners.
Signing Trapp could prove to be a masterful signing while saving Wolves some money in the process.
Wolves fans, would you be happy with Kevin Trapp? Let us know!
