Former England international takes huge pay cut in move to MLS

ColeFans of Arsenal and Chelsea are competing in a pool tournament this evening in The Transfer Tavern and discussing reports that a former player from both outfits has taken a huge wage cut upon signing for his new side.

Reports from the LA Times suggest that former England international Ashley Cole has taken a huge pay cut in joining MLS side LA Galaxy.

The American news outlet has made a staggering claim that Cole has signed a deal with the MLS side worth only £4,000 a week, a move the MLS side had to make due to a salery cap of just $3.7 million.

Cole became a much hated figure with fans at Arsenal following the players move to Chelsea, which they felt was only for financial gain, so this decision by their former player will come as big surprise not just to them but others around the game.

Both the Arsenal and Chelsea fans in The Tavern are in disbelief at the news but with image rights and sponsorship bringing in the money in America, they are sure their former player isn’t out of pocket.

Could Cole have still done a job in the Premier League? Let us know in the comments below!
