Derby County fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited for their future under new manager Frank Lampard and our punters can’t wait for next season.
The Chelsea legend took the reins following Gary Rowett’s departure, his first venture into senior club management. He is tasked with guiding the Rams back into the Premier League after they were knocked out of the playoffs last season. With the summer window now open, a host of names have been linked with a switch to Pride Park.
Using his connection with Chelsea would be a wise move as Lampard seeks to strengthen his squad. One man he should look to sign is defender – Jay Dasilva. Valued at £225k by Transfermarkt, the 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Charlton. The youngster was extremely impressive during the 44 appearances he made.
He lifted the club’s Young Player of the Year award after helping the Addicks reach the playoffs. Manager Lee Bowyer hailed the defender’s performances and claimed he was better than Ashley Cole was at his age. The club are keen for him to return next season but Lampard should try to lure him to Derby instead.
Lampard’s link with Chelsea could hand them a huge advantage in the race for his signature. The opportunity to play regular football in England’s second tier could prove valuable for Dasilva’s long-term development.
