Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa could be handed a timely boost ahead of their meeting with Blackburn Rovers.
The Whites will head to Ewood Park in two Saturday’s time when the Championship season resumes following the international break.
Luke Ayling will miss out through suspension following the red card he picked up against Brentford at the weekend, however, Bielsa may be able to call upon one of his senior players.
The defender has been out of action since the end of August with a knee injury he suffered against Middlesbrough.
The Elland Road outfit have hopes that he will feature for the Under-23s this week against Burnley and should he come through that unscathed, he could be ready to return against Blackburn the following weekend.
Berardi’s return would be a welcomed boost for Bielsa and Leeds as they look to resume their Championship efforts after the international break.
The Whites will be without Ayling, meaning they will need someone to slot in at right-back, although the Swiss defender can also play on the left, as Barry Douglas picked up a recent hamstring injury.
However, playing in the Under-23 games have not always gone to plan for Bielsa’s men this season and he will be hoping Berardi can make it through that before looking to make selection plans for Blackburn.
