Heckingbottom provides optimistic update on the future of Leeds regular

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be hoping that the club can convince one of their stars to sign a new deal.

It’s been far from an easy season for Leeds, with a mid-table finish now looking likely. Given the stature of the club, clearly, they need to be placing higher, but the chances of that happening this season are looking very bleak indeed.

This summer, then, a bit of a rebuild needs to take place, with a handful of top-tier players needed. However, keeping hold of players is just as important, and so Paul Heckingbottom’s recent update on the future of Pablo Hernandez will undoubtedly go down well in the Transfer Tavern.

According to Inside Futbol, whilst speaking at a press conference, Heckingbottom has revealed that positive talks have been held over Hernandez’s future.

He said: “I have had chats with Pablo and everything is positive. Pablo is driven by football rather than money. His family are settled here and it’s positive”.

Heckingbottom did air on side of caution, though, adding: “But there could be people that turn his head because of his contract situation and that’s where we stand”.

Clearly, Heckingbottom is refusing to state that a new deal is going to happen – just in case it doesn’t – but for the most part, this is positive for the Whites.

Hernandez is a regular for Leeds, having made 32 league starts this season.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Leeds locals in the Tavern will be desperate to keep a player of Hernandez’s quality after a number of impressive performances for the Whites in what has been a campaign full of struggle.

The punters will be looking for the side to add new faces, however, his face will definitely be wanted at the start of next season.

Whether a deal happens remains to be seen, but at this point, there seems to be a decent chance of that happening.
