Holmes and Bennett must start against Aston Villa today

Derby County have been one of the form teams in the Championship recently as they continue to chase an automatic promotion place.

The Rams managed to extend their unbeaten league run to six games with an impressive second-half performance against Birmingham City last time out.

Interestingly, Derby County will welcome Aston Villa to Pride Park in their next Championship encounter. The Villains managed to secure all three points against Bolton Wanderers last time out and are desperate to challenge for a play-off spot, so the Rams could be in for a very tricky afternoon.

With that in mind, Frank Lampard must get his team selection right by selecting these TWO Derby stars…

Duane Holmes

Duane Holmes made the move to Derby County from Scunthorpe United during the summer transfer window, but he only recently made his second Championship appearance from the Rams against Birmingham.

The energetic midfielder looked very lively in possession of the ball and caused a lot of danger in the final third last time out, so he could be a valuable asset for them in their pursuit of promotion to the Premier League, starting with today’s game against Dean Smith’s Aston Villa.

Mason Bennett

Mason Bennett has impressed during his limited amount of minutes on the field this season for the Rams, having provided three assists for his teammates in the Championship.

Indeed, the forward could be in line for a rare start against Aston Villa after witnessing Martyn Waghorn’s woeful display against Birmingham City last time out, with the opportunity to showcase his talents and push for a regular place in the side under Lampard.
