Leeds United fans here in the Tavern will be praying for a better season next time out, as supporters won’t settle for anything other than promotion to the Premier League.
Paul Heckingbottom will be relieved that the season is finally over as he struggled to grind out positive results on a consistent basis. The Englishman is yet to satisfy many of our local residents, so the summer transfer window will be vital when it comes to winning supporters over.
Although, the Whites will have to focus on outgoings at some point, with former Newcastle midfielder Vurnon Anita inevitably heading for the exits after a torrid campaign. The 29-year-old is currently valued at £3.15 million (by Transfermarkt), so Leeds may look to cash in on the Dutchman to provide extra funds for any possible additions.
Without further ado, if Anita never plays for Leeds United again, it’ll be far too soon…
Vurnon Anita was transformed into a left-back this season as he failed to force his way into his normal position in central midfield. And, it’s fair to say that he struggled to adjust to his new position, as he was often caught out by the opposition and offered very little defensive solidity.
Sadly, it looks as if Anita has even been pushed out of his newly found defensive position, as January signing Laurens De Bock, Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi all remain ahead of him in the pecking order.
So, the Whites can’t afford to carry any dead weight in their squad as they’ll aim for promotion next season, which could mean that they decide to offload Anita at some point during the summer transfer window.
