January makeover: West Bromwich Albion

January makeover: West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion have been simply sensational in recent times after a rather nervy start to proceedings in the Championship.

The Baggies consistently put in dominant performances under the guidance of Darren Moore, which has put them in a promising position to secure promotion straight back to the Premier League. But, there’re still a couple of things that need to change in order for the Midlands club to push on and potentially mount a lead at the top of the table.

Indeed, West Brom could definitely do with bringing in a number of players to freshen things up and strengthen in what will be a long, tiring Championship campaign. So, Darren Moore should already have his eyes on potential additions, with competition for places possibly hotting up at the Hawthorns.

With that in mind, here’s a look at West Bromwich Albion’s potential new line-up after January…

WEST BROMWICH ALBION’S POTENTIAL POST-JANUARY LINE-UP

Sam Johnstone has come to the rescue on a number of occasions so far this season, so he will keep his place in-between the sticks after the January transfer window.

Kyle Bartley has been a consistent performer at the back for the Baggies this season and managed to get himself on the scoresheet not so long ago. Also, Craig Dawson has been calm and collected at the heart of the defence, with Ahmed Hegazy looking complacent at times, but Moore should stick with the talented Egyptian.

The Midlands club tried to sign James Tavernier during the summer transfer window, so there’s no reason as to why they can’t try again and succeed in January. Meanwhile, Kieran Gibbs will continue to keep things tight down the left-hand side and provide quality delivery and service in the final third.

Jake Livermore has been impressive in the middle of midfield this season but the likes of Chris Brunt and Gareth Barry have been swapped around, so Moore should take a look at bringing in one of the standout performers in the Championship, Bradley Dack, who has been linked.

Lastly, Harvey Barnes will continue to produce match-winning performances at the Hawthorns if Claude Puel decides against recalling him back to the King Power Stadium, while Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle will continue to make things happen at the pinnacle of the attack.
