Sheffield Wednesday haven’t been able to ensure consistency in recent times as they continue to slip down the Championship table.
The Owls suffered their fourth successive defeat against Norwich City last time out as they were smashed 4-0 in front of home support at Hillsborough.
Interestingly, Sheffield Wednesday will travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United in the Steel City derby in their next Championship fixture. The Blades have been one of the form teams in the division this season and are in with a chance of securing automatic promotion, so the Owls will be up against it.
With that in mind, Jos Luhukay must get his team selection right by selecting these TWO Sheffield Wednesday stars…
Lucas Joao had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench once again last time out against Norwich City, which didn’t bode well for Sheffield Wednesday.
Indeed, the Portuguese forward has displayed moments of class and promise in the current campaign but he hasn’t found the back of the net in his last four appearances, despite scoring five so far this season.
Nevertheless, the 25-year-old must get the nod later on today in the Steel City derby as he could play a big part in the game by holding the ball up in what will be a very physical encounter.
Michael Hector found himself on the substitutes’ bench last time out against the Canaries, which didn’t end well for the Owls as they conceded four at Hillsborough.
The central defender has been able to ensure defensive solidity at times this season, despite Sheffield Wednesday struggling to grind out positive results recently.
Indeed, Daniel Pudil looked rather nervous at the heart of the defence in the Owls’ last Championship outing, so Luhukay should look to bring Hector into his starting lineup to try and smooth things over.
