Our Sheffield Wednesday fans here in the Transfer Tavern would have certainly liked a brighter start to proceedings than they’ve had this year in the Championship.
The Owls came into the campaign as one of the many sides capable of challenging for the top six but their start – one that’s seen them draw one game and lose one – has not really inspired much confidence.
However, given it’s still the start of the campaign there is plenty of chances and time to turn things around and so that is what Carlos Carvalhal will be looking to do ASAP.
Their next chance, then, isn’t too far away with them hosting a solid looking Sunderland side at Hillsborough tomorrow.
Certainly, then, a win for the Owls would surely boost confidence and it looks as though they might be given a late boost by Glenn Loovens recovering from an injury.
The centre-back – as per Carvalhal via the club’s Twitter account – has been suffering some pain after picking up a knock but he is apparently feeling better today and so he could be fit for tomorrow night:
CC: Glenn received a kick, he felt a strong pain, today he is better and we will see if he can play tomorrow #swfcLIVE

There can be no doubt that Loovens is an important player for Wednesday to have about the place right now and so if he is fit tomorrow he’s going to play.
The Owls really do need to get something from the game against Sunderland and so having their experience centre-half in the side will be a big boost to that.
