Kieren Westwood and Almen Abdi should never play for Sheffield Wednesday again

Sheffield Wednesday are enjoying a rich vein of form having secured three points in all of their last three Championship fixtures.

The Owls started the current campaign in a disappointing manner but they’ve certainly made up for it in recent matches. Indeed, Jos Luhukay managed to rally his troops to gain a bit of momentum prior to the international break, as the Championship club push towards a play-off spot.

However, the Sheffield Wednesday boss desperately needs to think about the futures of a couple of players in his squad, with competition for places hotting up.

Therefore, here’s a look at TWO men that should never feature for Sheffield Wednesday again…

Kieren Westwood

The Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper hasn’t featured for the Owls in the current campaign and could be on his way out during the January transfer window.

Indeed, the goalkeeper was linked with a number of clubs during the summer transfer window but nothing came of the interest. But, Jos Luhukay has opted to make use of Joe Wildsmith and Cameron Dawson so far this season, so it looks as if Kieren Westwood is now the third choice ‘keeper and won’t feature unless an injury occurs.

Almen Abdi

Almen Abdi has struggled through injury recently so he hasn’t been able to have any sort of impact on proceedings in the current campaign. Although, the attacking midfielder wasn’t a regular in the side last season and the Owls seem to have found a settled side in recent times.

So, the Switzerland international’s injury may have brought his Sheffield Wednesday career to a halt, as he has fallen down the pecking order and could be sent out on loan or offloaded permanently in January.
